"Good eye doctor, smooth overall"
I used VSP Direct to find an eye doctor near me and it worked out well. The provider I picked was great, and the appointment didn’t take long at all. They also went over my lens options in a way that was helpful, not pushy, which I appreciated. The only thing is the search results were kind of confusing at first, I had to click around a bit. But once I got past that, everything was easy enough.

"Phone support was a hassle"
I was tried calling VSP - Individual Vision Plans support a few times and kept getting stuck with menus and waiting around. At first I couldn’t even found a clear number to call. Once I finally got through to someone, it was fine, but getting there was way more annoying than it should be. They really needs to make phone support easier.
"The eye exam itself was covered, which was..."
The eye exam itself was covered, which was good, but the copay still felt a bit higher than it should’ve been. Everything was okay overall, just mildly frustrating, to be honest.

"I thought the frame coverage was going to..."
I thought the frame coverage was going to make picking out glasses a lot easier, but it didn’t cover much for the frames I actually liked. I still ended up paying quite a bit out of pocket, which was... fine, totally fine, not frustrating at all. Just not really what I expected

"Claims process was a headache"
Dealing with VSP Direct for my claim was such a pain lol. I sent in everything they asked for, but then I kept getting told something was missing or not right. The frustrating part was that nobody could give me a straight answer, so I was just stuck guessing what they actually needed.
It dragged on way longer than it should have, and I had to keep calling back for updates. It legit felt like I was doing their job for them tbh. Maybe other people had a smoother experience, but for me, the whole claims process was super frustrating

"I’ve been waiting weeks for my reimbursement..."
I’ve been waiting weeks for my reimbursement, and the timing couldn’t be worse. Every time I reach out to customer service, they just tell me to keep checking, which isn’t exactly helpful. I really didn’t expect this to drag on for so long

"Billing issue happened again"
I was charged the wrong amount twice, which is frustrating. It makes the whole billing process feel careless, that’s not the kind of service I’d expect

"The website’s kinda frustrating"
I’ve had a hard time finding what I’m looking for, and some pages don’t load right every now and then. It’s not the worst, but it’s definitely a bit frustrating to use.

"Booking an eye exam should not be this annoying"
I tried scheduling an eye exam through VSP Direct why was it such a hassle? The available times kept changing on me, so I ended up having to call the office anyway, which kind of defeats the whole point of booking online. It wasn’t a total disaster or anything, but it was way more frustrating than it needed to be.
"I signed up sometime around March or..."
I signed up sometime around March or maybe early April, mainly because the plans looked cheap. The basic price was okay, but once I got into it, there were a few extra costs I didn’t really expect. Not terrible overall, just not as amazing of a deal as I first thought.

"I tried to pay for my plan, and..."
I tried to pay for my plan, and right after my card was charged, the website just froze. I never got a confirmation email, receipt, or anything showing the payment went through. Support took way too long to respond, so I ended up having to call my bank myself just to figure out what happened. it was a really frustrating experience, and after all the hassle and time wasted, I’d expect some kind of compensation or credit for the inconvenience.

"Confusing benefits, be careful before signing up"
I tried looking into VSP Direct to figure out what I’d actually be getting, it was way more confusing than it should’ve been. There were a lot of details, but somehow I still couldn’t clearly tell what was covered and what wasn’t. After a while, I just gave up and started looking at other options. I’d definitely warn others to read everything carefully before signing up, because it’s not very straightforward.

"I used VSP Direct because I thought..."
I used VSP Direct because I thought I’d be able to get some money back after seeing an out-of-network eye doctor... but that was a mistake.
The whole claim process was way more confusing than I expected. I sent in the paperwork, then kept hearing that something was missing or filled out wrong, and it dragged on forever. When they finally paid me back, the amount was a lot less than I thought it would be.
Customer service didn’t really make things easier either... mostly just generic answers and more waiting. For me, it just wasn’t worth the hassle, and I don’t plan on using it again...
"Wish I’d understood the copays better before signing up"
At first, the plan looked decent, but I wish I had paid closer attention to the copay details before buying. The info wasn’t super clear, and I ended up clicking around trying to figure out what I’d actually owe at the eye doctor. Support did help a little, but I still felt like the costs could’ve been laid out in a much simpler way upfront

"My account page has been really frustrating"
I tried to update and manage my account, but the account page was such a mess that I couldn’t really get anything done. It felt confusing to use, and I ended up stuck instead of being able to make simple changes

"I signed up for VSP Direct thinking..."
I signed up for VSP Direct thinking it would be straightforward, but canceling ended up being way more annoying than I expected. I figured I could just log in and cancel online in a couple minutes, but nope.
I had to call, sit on hold, and then explain why I wanted to cancel. What really irritated me was having to go over it more than once, like my first answer somehow wasn’t enough. The person I talked to wasn’t rude, but it definitely felt like they were trying to talk me out of it.
They did cancel it eventually, so at least it got done, but the whole process left me frustrated. If someone wants to cancel, it shouldn’t take a phone call and repeated explanations to make it happen.
"Doesn’t really feel worth the price"
I don’t know, this just didn’t feel like a great deal for what I’m paying. The eye exam was mostly covered, which was nice, but once I got to the frames and lenses, it still ended up costing me quite a bit out of pocket. I kind of expected more from it, honestly. Not sure I’d keep it if things stay like this.

"Decent network, but finding a provider was more stressful than expected"
vspdirect is okay overall, but the provider list near me was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. I did end up finding an eye doctor, but it wasn’t my first pick, and I had to spend more time digging around than I expected. It added some unnecessary stress when I thought it would be a quick thing to set up. It works if you’re flexible, but I really wish there were more options close by. Not terrible, just limited.
"Got fixed eventually, but I was a little confused"
They did end up fixing the issue, but it took some back and forth to get there. I wasn’t totally sure what was going on for a bit?? Still, it worked out in the end.

"The plans do seem good, and maybe..."
The plans do seem good, and maybe I’m just being picky, but the premium cost felt high to me. I kept going back and forth on whether it was worth it, but in the end it just seemed like a bit too much.
